Everyone's talking about a crypto government reserve, but the US government has reserves of a lot of things, from gold... to cheese.
Commonly referred to as 'government cheese', the US government 'hodls' 1.4 billion pounds of cheese, stored in a cave in Missouri.
According to The Washington Post, the US has the largest domestic reserve of cheese of all varieties, including cheddar, Swiss and American.
Apparently, it all started in the 1970s, under Jimmy Carter's Administration, mostly because they just wanted to help farmers.
The Administration wanted to raise the price of milk, but you can't store milk, so they started storing cheese.
Long live the cheese.
