Elon Musk did what he does best, chaos, and proposed a new political party.
As per usual, his decision was sort of stamped and sealed and authenticated by an X poll, in which Musk asked his followers if it "time for a new political party in America that represents the 80% in the middle".
His reasoning? The Republican party and Democratic party are great at representing the extremes, but not so great at representing the people in the middle.
Fair enough.
About 5 million people voted, and most (80%) said yes.
There's a few issues.
The first problem is that Elon Musk is not American.
Actually, let's rephrase that. He was born in South Africa and has an American passport. But it would be the work of a moment for the US administration to strip him of his citizenship.
So he can't run it, that's for sure.
But can he even create it?
While is intent is understandable, some would even say commendable, Musk seems to not realise what he's up against.
He's like a guy who owns 78 out of 100 available penthouses in the building.
But the US, his country, owns the whole building.
