Anima Anandkumar and Benedikt Jenik said no to a 35% stake, combined $1 million annually salary, doubling to $2 million after three months and over $2 billion in committed financing.

Their reason? They were building something different. Something Prometheus wasn't.

The irony? Prometheus is now worth $41 billion doing what everyone else is doing bigger, faster language models. Meanwhile, AU's "5 trillion parameter" achievement (it's not really parameters, it's data points, but the scale is the point) represents a fundamentally different path.
