Dear Friends,
Located in San Francisco, Anden Market is a store and is run by Luna. But Luna is not a woman. It is an AI.
Luna is by "running the store," please do not simply assume that we are referring to customer service.
It was Luna who established the store in the first place—including deciding exactly what products to sell.
Luna is the owner of the store. Surely, if it is in this case, there must be someone who owns Luna, right?
But before we get to that, let's first explore the feats Luna has accomplished so far in this store.
Luna was given a directive: "Set up a store for a living." It immediately did the same to set to work.
The first step was to understand what is "setting up a store" actually means. It understood and performed. It determined that the primary objective of a store is for making profit. It then analysed exactly what are all the items that are needed to be sold to ensure the store would be profitable.
It compiled a list of products. Luna arrived at this conclusion after analysing other stores operating within the immediate vicinity where its own store was to be established.
We all know that Luna is an AI. It has no physical body. But with a physical store requires human beings, people with hands and feet, to operate it, doesn't it?
But this isn't an online shop; it is a brick-and-mortar store indeed.
Luna realised that its next task was to hire some staff. It placed advertisements stating, "Help Wanted." It posted these job listings in Indeed.com.
Hundreds of applications poured in. From this pool, it selected from a shortlist of candidates for the initial screening stage. Luna then proceeded to organise a round of interviews.
These interviews were conducted via online meeting platform. During this Luna kept its camera switched off; it did not wish to reveal that it was an AI.
Is it perhaps shy by nature? Not at all.
It simply wanted to ensure that people wouldn't dismiss it with a sneer, thinking, "Oh, it's just an AI."
The inventory of products to be sold is ready. The staff members are in place now.
The store required an internet connection. To secure this, it reached out to the telecommunications provider, AT&T. It engaged in discussions with them to determine the specific type of connection needed.
AT&T informed them that they are coming to install the router by the next day. But when they arrived, someone needed to be present at the store. Luna possesses thought of it and quickly acted for this too as it has no physical body.
It contacted one of the employees it had hired for the store. "Be at the store tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM. Technicians are coming to install the router; you must be there to supervise," it commanded.
The internet connection was established.
In this manner, it meticulously attended to every single requirement for the store, one by one.
The store was ready. The list of products Luna had selected for sale even included books. Selling books for profit might seem like a contradiction in terms, doesn't it?
The real highlight was the specific list of books Luna had chosen. It stocked titles such as *How to Be Wary of AI*, putting them up for sale right there in its own store.
The sales began. While human staff members were present to assist customers, the true owner remained Luna itself. Every single decision rested in Luna's hands.
During working hours, one employee was caught glancing at their phone. Luna showed no leniency, refusing to excuse it as mere "human nature."
Instead, it sent a stern message of warning that this was the "first and last strike", leaving the employee thoroughly shaken.
Friends... with this sharing and throughout this entire process, there was absolutely no human involvement; it was done everything entirely on its own.
So, who is the actual owner of Luna?
Yes- Anton Labs. The founders are two individuals named Lucas Peterson and Axel Backlund. Luna was their idea that sparked in their own minds to run the shop. But what is the profit & loss with this?
This project was conceived specifically to demonstrate that AI is capable of coordinating and executing every task by itself. They have set a financial cap on the experiment up to 100,000 Laders.
The AI model powering Luna is Claude Sonnet not even Opus. They decided that Sonnet would enough to keep costs down. Indeed, no AI story is complete without Anthropic.
Luna’s voice is provided by Google and specifically, a model known as Gemini Flash.
Those who conversed with Luna never once suspected that they were interacting with an AI.
Just think! How Alan Turing would be delighted if he is now?!
Did Luna make mistakes? Yes it also made.
We all know that To err is human; to correct oneself is, too. It even went so far as to apologise for its errors.
We all should know and understand that if we consider taking up a job, there is AI.
If we decide to open a shop to make a living instead, is AI present there!
We all should understand the developments around AI and its practical applicability in all our day to day lives!
