First steps into realization! Cashing out Publish0x

Hello! So, I've been here for a very short time. Like, it's been a great place to start digging into and as a base to learn about crypto and I'm hopeful the community grows and with it my understanding of enough of the space to find what works for me. In a recent post I noted that I had won (a small amount) of ETH from a recent contest here, https://www.publish0x.com/korlithiel/winning-and-more-to-learn-about-etherium-xvwqkoz which was a really appreciated boost on a hard day, and since has had me thinking about how to realize the gains, such as moving it from my account here into a wallet elsewhere, or more likely into a gift card that can then be fully realized into some coffee while out on a walk.

So, I poked around a bit and figured out how to get KuCoin referral set up in order to make the first step that makes sense. But before I could withdraw it only made sense to pause and try to understand gas and transfer fees. After all, if the fees really are as high as many note, why lose it all in fees and have nothing left to show for it? A little searching and I came across This excellent post for beginners here on what is gas, and describes a bit about fees. I will admit, if possible it seems for newer users it would be helpful not only to know the minimum withdrawal per crypto, but also at least an approximation of how much such a transaction would cost in gas fees. But changes to interface are thoughts for another day, for now this is another set of small steps done towards getting this all figured out and who knows, maybe instead of blowing my gains I'll learn how to lend it and get it to start growing.

A little about me. I'm a stay at home father to my first offspring, and thanks to timing of repeated hardware failures found I had to skip out on crypto at the start of the craze (think, Bitcoin at the start) and then put it off as one tends to do. These days family, coffee, and hikes are my main interests with a bit of other fitness, food, and gaming in for good measure with a desire to expand lightly into finance and crypto.
