Kiyosaki now claims he started buying Bitcoin in 2012, but previously stated he bought his first coins for $6,000, which only happened in 2017.

Robert Kiyosaki, author of the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, has once again criticized the growth of American public debt. On his social media, the businessman also revealed when he started investing in metals and cryptocurrencies.
In November 2025, when Bitcoin was trading at $90,000, Kiyosaki said he had sold some of his coins and would use the money to buy two surgical centers and invest in other businesses.
More recently, in June, with the cryptocurrency trading in the US$64,000 range, the investor explained that he was not yet buying back Bitcoin because he believed that it was not the ideal time .
Robert Kiyosaki is an early adopter of Bitcoin.
In his opening remarks, Robert Kiyosaki playfully tells his followers that it would take 32,000 years for a person to spend $1 trillion if they spent $1 a day.
“The U.S. government is printing approximately $1 trillion every 90 days ,” Kiyosaki wrote, noting that American debt has risen from $9.5 trillion in 2008 to nearly $39 trillion currently.
Given this, the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad reminds us that one of the teachings of his book is that "rich people don't save money . "
Next, Kiyosaki reveals when he started investing in metals and cryptocurrencies.
"Since 1965, I have been storing physical silver.
Since 1971, I have been storing physical gold.
Since 2012, I have been storing Bitcoin.
Since 2022, I have been storing Ethereum."
Offering another criticism of the American government, the writer also points out that its metals are stored in vaults in Switzerland, but outside the Swiss financial system.
"The U.S. has made gold possession illegal in the past and confiscated the metal from citizens ," Kiyosaki explained.

In 2012, Bitcoin was trading between $4 and $16, and few people knew about cryptocurrency. Therefore, this makes Kiyosaki an 'early adopter' of this market.
However, in 2024, Kiyosaki said he wished he had bought Bitcoin when the cryptocurrency was worth $10 per unit, but only started buying when the currency was already at $6,000, which only happened in 2017.
On that date, the writer also revealed that he owned 73 bitcoins, valued at US$4.7 million at the current exchange rate.
One possible explanation for this confusion of dates is that Kiyosaki received some bitcoins as a gift in 2012, but only started buying them years later.
