While dropping my child off at daycare, I see their class name is the "Busy Bees". We teach them young to be busy. To always have something going on. To be distracted every moment of the day. But why? Why can't we just sit and do nothing? Without being so busy and filling in our precious time doing stuff. Do we ever take the time out to just "Bee" without the "Busy"?
We might be called lazy. Why aren't you doing anything? You are wasting your life. But I call being busy every waking moment a waste of life! Our days are filled up. Scheduled. All planned out for the next thing. What did you do today? Typically here in America, Monday thru Friday, we wake up for our senseless jobs. Some give themselves time to, shower, make some coffee and breakfast, check social media, get dressed, brush our teeth and that is just the basics. Throw in having a wife and kid, and even more of the morning is filled in.
I choose a different route and just get up, get dressed, smoke a cigarette and then leave. Listening to morning affirmations from the second I get out of bed. I then take my normal route to work. This is not good. Then normally a person would get home after their 8 hour working day and be tired, looking for dinner. Well, someone needs to cook! But most days, we don't feel like cooking and most days, can't even decide what to eat. (I know, we have some real problems). So then we have to order food. Well, someone needs to get it.
Now by this time, it is already dark and you just want to go sit on the couch and get lost in the television because every moment up until now has been a complete waste of time. Too busy to even think about what makes you, you. So this going on for about 40 years, give or take, and you just completely lose yourself because you were busy. After all those years on the couch, it's as if you become part of the couch. Getting harder and harder to get out of it. You become the couch. A single entity that just sits there until it is worn out and gets thrown into the dumpster with the rest of them.
So be idle as much as you can, because you are already busy.
