Gold Has Qualities, but Its Flaws Make It Inferior to Bitcoin as a Store of Value

Gold Has Qualities, but Its Flaws Make It Inferior to Bitcoin as a Store of Value

Gold has been a renowned store of value for centuries now. The scarcity of gold is the primary reason why precious metal has been the primary choice of hundreds of millions of people over the years.

Gold also has the advantage of being accepted virtually everywhere. Finally, its liquidity is excellent. So the qualities of gold cannot be questioned. Some will even tell you that gold can be used to create jewelry and that entire populations have a tradition of storing a lot of gold.

That being said, gold is not without its flaws.

Gold suffers from flaws that prevent you from truly protecting the fruits of your labor

I don't know about you, but for me, it's hard to tell if a metal is an original gold or fake. It's something that requires expertise that you can't acquire easily. So to verify the authenticity of your gold, you're going to have to reveal its existence to a third party.

You don't want to do this since you would like to keep your wealth a secret, but you will have no other choice.

Another major problem will be the storage of your gold. How will you safely store a large amount of gold in your home? This will put you at risk. In most cases, you will be forced to go through storage in bank vaults.

Many people even buy gold directly from these banks and trust them to hold the gold for them. So you never see the color of the gold you bought to protect the fruits of your labor from monetary inflation.

If you have to move and change countries in a hurry, you will not be able to easily transport your gold with you. There is a high risk that it will be stolen or confiscated by customs at airports. Yet, it is your hard-earned gold.

Unfortunately, you can't enjoy your gold the way you want to.

Trading with gold is also a problem. I don't think you can go out and buy your next house and bring your gold bars from years past with you. The seller will probably tell you he doesn't want it, and the notary public won't validate the sale of the house.

Bitcoin is a store of value more suited to the world of today and the future

Bitcoin is a much newer store of value, created in late 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto.

Apart from this youthful flaw, Bitcoin has much greater guarantees than gold on the flaws I just listed. Your Bitcoin can be stored in your head if you memorize the 24 words of your seed phrase. Then you can leave your home and go live on the other side of the world, taking all your hard work with you.

No one will know. No one can stop you from doing it. You are free. You have complete control over your life.

To trade with Bitcoin, it's the same. No one can stop you from doing it. More and more merchants are supporting Bitcoin as a payment method. The number is still small of course, but over the next 10 to 20 years, the number will explode. That's a certainty.

The return on investment over the past 10 years highlights the fact that gold is no longer a relevant solution

Gold's last great asset was its ability to represent a major safe haven in times of crisis. The last decade has seen us undergo great monetary inflation. Under these conditions, gold should have seen its price explode. However, this was not the case as gold has fallen -2.2% over the last ten years.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 has risen by almost 300%, while Bitcoin has seen its price rise by +390,000%:

While some people continue to explain that gold is the best reserve asset in the world, the numbers clearly say otherwise.

As Bitcoin teaches you to do, you need to check everything out for yourself rather than believe what others tell you. By doing this verification, you will understand that Bitcoin is the best store of value right now.

In a world where everything is going digital, the advantages of Bitcoin over gold will keep coming to light. Bitcoin is easier to use and more secure.

Worse still, gold can be confiscated by the powerful people at the head of the current system

I haven't even mentioned here Executive Order 6102 which was signed on April 5, 1933, by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt as part of his New Deal policy. In the midst of the Great Depression, the government confiscated almost all of the gold held by private individuals through this law.

The purpose was to finance the New Deal projects.

This situation could very well happen again in the future. Many will tell you that times have changed, but never forget that if something has happened once in history, it could very well happen again.

In any case, that is a risk I am not willing to take with the fruits of my labor.

The last few months have validated the superiority of Bitcoin over gold

The last excuse that comes out of the gold bugs is that the situation with Bitcoin over the past decade was totally special. Indeed, Bitcoin had just been launched, which may explain the phenomenal return on investment over 10 years compared to gold.

I am willing to hear this objection. That's why I compared the one-year return on investment of gold and Bitcoin:

Again, the numbers don't lie. Bitcoin increased by +283% between August 8, 2020, and August 8, 2021, while gold lost -15% over the same time period.

Pretty problematic to see a store of value drop by 15% in one year at the same time that central banks around the world just printed over $10 trillion out of thin air.

So gold is well and truly being made obsolete by Bitcoin.

For the sake of your money future, you need to open your eyes to this reality. Once you do, you can really take care of your future by switching to the store of value of the future: Bitcoin.
