Brave Adoption Grows

Co-founded by Javascript creator and former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich, Brave basically pays its users at Basic Attention Token (BAT) for viewing ads. BRAVE Has had a steady increase in adoption in recent months. The company's chief marketing officer, Des Martin, tweeted that the platform surpassed one million new users during the month of March alone.

*Since the latest news, Brave has launched video calls within the browser with end-to-end encryption.

*Brave web browser launches encrypted video calls before Zoom

Video calls have become enormously popular in recent months, due to the confinement to which we have been forced by the expansion of the coronavirus. Thanks to this, apps like Zoom, which until now have been aimed at a niche of users, have gained fame and glory.

This crisis has exposed the status of these apps; Zoom itself has been immersed in many controversies about its security and privacy, and others such as WhatsApp have not been enough for many users.

The encrypted video service, nicknamed 'Brave Together', can be used to make unlimited encrypted video calls with two participants. All Brave users can access the feature without registering.

Brave revealed that video conferencing with support for more than two participants is currently being tested on Brave Nightly, the developer version of the browser.

Brave Together is based on the Jitsi encrypted video open source software, which was endorsed by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2017.
With this, it allows us to call our contacts directly from a web tab to protect our privacy and security with all kinds of filters and tools.

The latest test version of the Brave web browser includes built-in video calls, which allow us to connect with our friends securely and privately
To use this functionality, called Brave Together, it will be necessary to use the Brave browser, but apart from that we will not have to create a user account or give our data.

Video conferencing software generates spikes in demand
The move comes after an explosion in the use of video conferencing software amid the pandemic and quarantine by COVID-19; Zoom saw a huge spike in use.

However, Zoom has come in for privacy and security criticism, with the "Zoom bombings" emerging as a rampant phenomenon during quarantine. In April, it was revealed that Elon Musk's company SpaceX had banned its employees from using video conferencing software due to "significant privacy and security concerns."
Zoom will also introduce end-to-end encryption to protect its 300 million daily users this week.

In fact, BRAVE is based on the technology of Jitsi, an open source project that has spent years developing a platform for video conferencing and voice calls. Jitsi Meet, an app based on this platform, has been very successful, especially because it better guarantees our privacy; Unlike Zoom, Jitsi's video calls are end-to-end encrypted, making it much more difficult to spy on them.

The Brave version works much like Zoom and Jitsi Meet, so there's not much to learn in that regard.
