“El Salvador’s GDP increased by 10% and its tourism by 30% after declaring bitcoin a legal tender. Imagine what we can do in a city at the center of Europe.” These were the words of CTO of Tether Paolo Ardoino when Lugano, Switzerland announced to make Bitcoin legal tender.
A few months later and you can now “pay with Bitcoin for food, drinks, art, fashion, jewelry, cars, watches, tattoos, real-estate, municipal taxes, and services and so much more in the city of Lugano, Switzerland…”
Now I don't know if you can use BTC to pay for sexual services, but even without that option the whole thing sure looks tempting to me. The project's name is Plan B and although I have a bit of repulsion towards such a name related to the S2F failed model which I followed in planning my bull market strategy for 2021, I got to appreciate what this project(Plan ₿) is doing in Switzerland.
Here you have the map and a search option for merchants and businesses accepting Bitcoin as payment in the above-mentioned city. OK, I know, this is not something new, we already have El Salvador which made Bitcoin legal tender in September 2021, but such a move coming from a country like Switzerland is definitely more impactful for the industry than El Salvador's was.
Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym of Bitcoin's creator, stated the purpose of Bitcoin is as an electronic payment system that is based on cryptographic proof, instead of trust. Some holders buy bitcoin as an investment, wanting it to increase in value, while individuals and businesses use or accept payments as currency.

You see, we have gone off track a bit in regard of the use of Bitcoin that was "given to us" by Satoshi himself. It was designed and built as a payments currency and it ended up being much more... Unfortunately it is less like a currency and more like a speculative asset. Had we used it as such(as designed by Satoshi) and we probably wouldn't have had an FTX crash, or LUNA, and whatever, in the crypto industry.
It is not too late, though... We still got time to make Bitcoin, and/or stablecoins viable exchange currencies. Once CBDCs are out(hope they will fail) we're pretty much fucked. Meanwhile, I'm more than happy to see all sorts of merchants accepting Bitcoin(USDT, DOGE, etc) as payment currency. Fuck it, I even appreciate drug dealers and hookers doing that.
Good job, Lugano! It's your turn now, Bucharest...
Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
