Bitcoin mining is a controversial topic. Some people believe that it’s a waste of energy, while others believe that it’s an essential part of Bitcoin‘s decentralization and value proposition. Either way, there’s no doubt that Bitcoin mining is becoming increasingly popular.
In recent months, there have been a number of positive developments for Bitcoin mining, which are a sign that Bitcoin is becoming more accepted by governments of all sizes:
New Hampshire
In January 2023, a commission supported by the office of the Governor of New Hampshire made waves by proposing the integration of Bitcoin mining with the State’s energy grid. The commission found that Bitcoin mining could produce benefits for electricity grids or systems, including renewable energy projects.
The commission's report was met with mixed reactions. Some people praised the report for its forward-thinking approach, while others criticized it for being too optimistic. However, the report's findings are a sign that certain groups within New Hampshire’s governments are open to the idea of Bitcoin mining.

Mississippi and Missouri
In early 2023, bills were introduced in the Mississippi and Missouri that would protect the rights of Bitcoin miners and node operators by making it illegal to discriminate against them.
The bill was proposed as necessary to protect the rights of citizens of those states who participate in the Bitcoin economy, whether now or in the future. It’s also expected that the bills will help attract Bitcoiners to the states.
As Bitcoin mining becomes more popular, it’s likely that we will see even more positive developments in the future.
