Aloha , I Chantel have been in Pennsylvania makes three years today 06/26/2021. I moved to Pennsylvania in 06/26/2018. I now have a soon to be 2 year old named Ma'la'ki. I am originally born, raised, an grew up on the Big-Island of Hawai'i , in the district of Ka'u. Now that I am here in a whole entirely different world than what I am use to, I realize there are alot of different foods here in pennsylvania than back home in Hawai'i where I am originally from, like for instance back on the island of hawai'i, Im use to being able to eat raw fish right straight from fishing, well that's if it's the right ones you can eat I mean ( aka: Poke ) Ahi , Shrimp, Crab, Salmon & Marlin are just some of the few seafood you can eat raw. I'm use to eating Opihi right off the rock with a butter knife. Ahi with Aloha shoyu (Soy Sauce),furikake, green onion, onion, and Limu Kohu. Salmon poke and Marlin is usually eaten Korean bbq flavor. Shrimp you can eat that raw with aloha shoyu or by itself. Crab aka: A'ama can be eaten raw or seasoned with Hawaiian salt aka: Sea Salt. I will list a few with images right below for those of you reading this post of mine and don't have any idea or clue what these Hawaiian words are or even mean. I'll help you out and show you all some ALOHA.

Now that was images of the few sea foods I'm use to eating in hawai'i. There are also the fresh island fruits. Right in my grandmother's yard there are a few of these fresh island fruits, there are, Orange trees, Avocado trees, Lemon trees, Mango trees, a few Coconut trees, a Macadamia Nut Tree and a Mountain Apple tree. Those are fresh fruit sweet an water your mouth. Some of Island Hawai'i paradise right at your fingertips. Green onion grown right on the back porch or in an old tire rim potted soil for the green onion, for all year around it's only 62 degrees- 74 degrees. You could also grow your own carrots and potatoes if you wanted to. Also my grandmother along with many others in the local community grow lemongrass right in there own backyard. Lemongrass is good for coughs and sore throat. Try lemongrass with honey and an actual lemon it's really awesome, take it from a hawaiian islander born and raised Hawai'i. I will show you some images of the fruits that I mentioned earlier.

well those were images of the some of the fresh island fruits grown on the beautiful island of Hawai'i. Now the downside to not being in hawaii I have to eat most of my fruits from cans, which let me tell you is nothing like eating a fresh fruit right off the tree in your own backyard. The veggies that I get here in Pennsylvania are also not quality at all, they don't hold up in this the weather here in Pennsylvania not even in the grocery store. I have a picture of what my fresh fruits now look like being in Pennsylvania.
My pantry is filled with fruits instead of going into my backyard an grabbing them fresh off the trees or from the garden. Tell me thats not a big culture shock for someone born an raised on an island use to eating fresh food all the time an all the time, now in Pennsylvania it's seriously a fish out of water. thank you for reading my post. I will be posting more. "Mahalo" as we say in Hawai'i in hawaiian means "thank you" and also "a hui hou" which means "goodbye" or I'll just leave saying "Aloha" which means everything in one. so until next time People. "ALOHA"
