Onion Harvest

You're supposed to leave the onions out in the sun for two days to dry out, but this is Ireland, and it is raining all the time now, so I shoved them in my little greenhouse.

The red onions were much smaller than the white, so they fitted in easier.

This set up is not ideal, you're supposed to be gentle with the onion stalks, but I was shoving and jamming these to try to fit them in enough.

It's tight, but it will do the job.

After two days, gather the onions and leave them somewhere dark for two weeks.

I got this pallet that was set aside for another project, for now it will work great for this.

They look so good. I ended up raising this pallet up a bit by putting paint tubs under it. A friend of my husband said it'd be better to let the stalks hang, they'll be less likely to get damaged.
