Growing Our Own Part 3

We spread the seaweed over our plot and we definitely underestimated how much seaweed to get but it did the job.

I think we were supposed to wash the seaweed first 🤫 we'll do that the next time.

The bulk went on the peas, they weren't looking so good.

But I tried to put some along the whole plot. Seaweed is full of nutrients and minerals for the plants and it also repels slugs, birds and other pests because of its sharp edges once dried and the taste of the salt

We got a third plot. These two are empty but I am very excited about next week because we have corn plants to put down in the middle row and when June hits we will be putting down pumpkin plants with the corn and when the corn grows a little we'll plant runner beans around the base of the corn plants. This is called the three sisters and is a great way of getting as much as possible out of one space and having plants working together. We haven't fully planned it out but in the third plot we're hoping to plant swede which I've always thought was turnip but I've recently learnt they are two separate vegetables 🤯, brussel sprouts, cabbage, red onion, some herbs, leeks and maybe more if we have space.

My sons absolutely adore going to the farm especially my toddler, it is great to have somewhere to go without masks or covid signs everywhere and you don't need to pay admission neither. I strap my 6 month old into the carrier and he just loves watching everything. I can't wait for them to see food being pulled from the ground.
