Civilization VI is a 4X game released in 2016. Since then, it continues to evolve through numerous updates and the release of expansions. Today, Firaxis presents its April update, which marks a turning point in the roadmap.
Indeed, this update which was supposed to arrive on Thursday, April 22nd is the first post-Pass New Frontier. For what content? It is not new civilizations, but several modifications to existing civilizations. With the many new leaders and civilizations introduced in recent months, as well as the many comments from player feedback, the team has revisited several existing civilizations to ensure the game is balanced. This includes Spain, the Khmer, China, the Mapuche civilization, Canada, Georgia and more. More details will be available in the patch notes.
In addition, the April update brings three New Units available for all civilizations, two new maps in real starting positions, and improved AI for better use of naval units for deep sea travel.
Regarding the three New Units for all civilizations, Firaxis announces the arrival of the Line Infantry, the Man-at-Arms, and the most anticipated of all, the Trebuchet. As these units change the balance of power, the team has re-examined the overall strength of the units and made a few changes, ensuring that the new units will be a significant improvement but not upset the previous balance of power.

For fans of real starting positions, the April update includes a Mediterranean map and a huge map in real starting positions. Naval AI has also been improved, with the computer making better use of naval units that lead to more interesting choices around naval production and warfare.
The April update is one of many free updates in the Civilization VI - Pass New Frontier content schedule, available to everyone who owns the game.
