The boxing world often measures a fighter's life in rounds, knockouts and records. Prichard Colón's story cannot be measured that way. His professional career lasted only a few years, but the consequences of one night in Virginia followed him for almost eleven more. Colón, a gifted Puerto Rican prospect who had once looked like one of boxing's rising stars, died in August 2026 at the age of 33 after suffering catastrophic brain injuries during his October 17, 2015 fight against Terrel Williams. On the night of the fight, Colón was only 23. He arrived at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia, as an unbeaten professional with a reputation that was growing quickly. He had won his first 16 professional fights, with 13 victories coming by knockout, and was being watched as a potentially important figure in the next generation of Puerto Rican boxing. His opponent, Terrel Williams, was also unbeaten, creating the kind of matchup that can change the trajectory of a young fighter's career.
