Bitcoin opportunity in Macau as the city plans to accept digital currencies? Not really😔

First off, fook gambling. Never start it, never do it, never go along with that edge-living friend who wants you to "just come along for the company." That being said, Macau is a gambling city and for those not aware, China is very anti-gambling and doesn't allow for casinos, sports bookies or shady gambling sites to operate within their borders. Quite harsh some might say, but because it's gambling I actually DGAF, no one wins from gambling except those who offer it and they are literally taking over. Gambling ads are everywhere, I mean, I remember whenever I watched a football game as a kid, the teams used to wear shirts with sponsors who made electronics (Sony, Aiwa, Teka) or cars (Opel, Mercedes, Fiat). They all got pushed aside as the bigger sponsor money was starting to flood in from online gambling sites. I'm not going to name the clubs or show the relevant football shirts as it would give those gambling sites coverage, and most of them have faded out the past two/three years anyway but not because they couldn't afford to be head sponsor of some of Europe's richest clubs. Oh no, it's because the governments of several countries finally stepped in and began putting limitations on them and the football clubs they were sponsoring.

I know I'm not alone on this by just looking at the reactions under these type of horrible videos of people literally raging and losing their mind because of gambling.

So yeah, to hell with gambling and I know Macau is a gambling city and all, but apart from that I have nothing against the place. I actually had a really good time there and the overall atmosphere is absolutely nothing like Las Vegas, here are some personal pics of mine from back in the day.

Now as much as I agree with China's way of dealing with gambling, there's such a thing as taking things too far and where our story actually begins. In 2021 China actually adapted a law forbidding it's citizens from gambling abroad.🤨 Like, how? How are you going to implement your laws in another country or region in the world or even know what people have been doing there? CBDCs that's how: "Macau’s Executive Council has passed a bill creating a legal framework for the territory to begin accepting digital currency."

I could be wrong here, but something tells me this will mainly be government issued CBDCs and that Bitcoin or Alts are not fitting to make the cut, especially with Beijing's stance towards cryptocurrencies. The article itself speculates that it's mostly about China's CBDC as well "Macau embracing China’s digital currency is the logical conclusion of all of this." But are they perhaps underestimating or even trying to ignore Bitcoin? I have to ask because they don't even mention 'Bitcoin' in the entire article. Well, they sort of do but that's because they mashed two articles together from two completely different authors, so let's give the idea some thought ourselves. If Macau is considering Bitcoin this would indeed be huge news. The city actually overtook Las Vegas in revenue before the pandemic started and we have to remind ourselves again that this was of course for a large portion due to Chinese visitors, who would be wary of this CBDC link to their holiday. I mean, I know we all like getting picked up at airports when we come back home, you know the welcoming smile, the convenient ride, but doubt that there are many people who want the police to be the one waiting for their return from holiday.👮🚓

I actually can't say much more on this without rehearsing what I already said before on CBDCs, so I guess that's pretty much it for now until Macau clarifies their position on their newly adopted "digital currencies" bill. Here's the full text for our Portuguese readers.

Things are almost never as they seem. If you sincerely think that world powers would spend their money and resources in order to just "help" citizens from foreign nations, you might want to ask yourself why they've been neglecting and out right murdering their own citizens for decades. What are their true motives for wanting to fund foreign (terror) groups, start global confrontations and wars? I'll let you in on a little secret; It has NOTHING to do with "human rights" nor "democracy".
