One X hacked, another was suspended (but returned), and the importance of more decentralized networks.

My first Twitter account was hacked about two months ago, if I remember correctly. It was a really shocking experience for me, because, since I forgot to activate two-step verification, they somehow managed to get my email and password and had a field day.

I was paying for premium, now it was X, and my account was doing well, lots of followers, verified accounts, maybe I could even monetize it, despite the insane metrics, but the worst part was losing something I'd had for so long, accounts of friends, cool people, some influencers I managed to get to follow me, everything was lost. It was a struggle to cancel the premium and get the account suspended, even though I and some friends kept reporting it.

After that, I created another account, more discouraged, just to follow some people and stay up-to-date on crypto news, like blockchain, bitcoin, play-to-earn games, that kind of thing. I didn't get the premium subscription and I don't think I will, especially since this account is another stressful issue: it was suspended and, although I could still access it and see people's content, I couldn't like, retweet, nothing, just silently observe everything.

I appealed and, after about 2 or 3 days, they reinstated my account. What hurts the most is the way we are treated. They don't say what happened, what we did or didn't do wrong, the circumstances, the mistake, the slip-up, nothing, they just treat us like a piece of digital meat, just numbers, you were banned, you were suspended and it's your fault. But what did I do? I don't know and I won't find out, the punishment just comes and you're left wondering what happened.

Life isn't fair, and I don't expect it to be; I'm used to things going wrong all the time. But all this just shows the importance of a decentralized blockchain network, where we truly own our accounts, as I always say about the Hive Blockchain. The account is mine because the keys are mine, so none of this happens there. If other networks also give us our keys, great, that's the best way.

I hope that decentralized networks continue to grow, that big tech companies continue to lose power, and that each of us can truly own our accounts, wallets, content, and lives. That's the future I wish for all of us.
