Uncle Joe

Uncle Joe

By emily2u | From the Heart | 2 Apr 2021

 Joe was only twenty-eight
Back in the autumn of ’79.
Things were fine ‘til one day,
Life became most unkind.

We’d lots of fun with him,
Our favorite uncle.
When he was taken ill,
All prayed for a miracle.

But it wasn’t to be,
Just didn’t come about.
He weakened, quite deaf;
Talking to him, had to shout.

Soon, the virus ate him up,
In life, had no hold;
Nothing helped at all,
And one night, he turned cold.
