In our group of five,
Emotions were running high.
We had too much to drink,
Could feel my spirits sink.
Somehow in the room,
I had a sense of gloom.
All were jolly and wild,
Over me, settled a dark cloud.
Our session ended at midnight,
Outside was still light.
As I was quite tipsy,
They advised me to take it easy.
We soon went on our own way,
Promised to meet up on Sunday.
I drove off in my battered car,
But did not go very far.
Before I could take action,
In the opposite direction,
A truck was loudly honking,
Then my pulse stopped beating.
