On Vacation

On Vacation

Alone on an island,
A woman sat wondering,
About the world so silent,
Free from the cell phone’s ring.

By herself but not lonely,
Valuing the quiet days;
The starry night sky, so lovely,
With no distraction from a face.

Technology makes life hectic,
Every day is pressured.
Work environment, frantic,
Health is heavily insured.

She’s glad to be on vacation,
Doing things at leisure.
To hell with the promotion,
Life should be a pleasure.
