Empty Promises

Empty Promises

By emily2u | From the Heart | 30 Jan 2021

Sweet were the promises
Whispered into my ear.
Believed I could be your Missus,
The one you hold dear.

Imagine how I suffered,
The pain I’ve to endure,
As I’m not whom you preferred;
Is there a cure?

Can I stop these tears
From rolling down my face?
I’ve all these fears ---
Can’t awake from this daze.

You can make me complete,
If you let me into your life again.
Only then can I bear this defeat,
Ultimately be free from pain.

Tell me what I should do
To recapture your heart.
I’d be most grateful to
Make a brand new start.
