Liverpool had to struggle and pull a home win against AFC Bournemouth last weekend to effectively steer clear of Manchester City at the top of the table. I mean it was already glaring for everyone that Liverpool were already the winners of the League this season. But Manchester City gave them a very nice winning present when they lost their game to Manchester United the next day. The loss means that Manchester City lost to Manchester United both home and away this season, first losing at the Etihad 2-1, then following that up with another loss at the Old Trafford 2-0.
But more than just the bragging rights which Manchester City obviously lost, this means that they could be handing the League to Liverpool with a whole lot of games to spare. Liverpool just need to win two more games or collect 6 more points to mathematically win the League in points tally. With a 25 point gap over Manchester City, there is no way on God's green Earth that the lead will be cut and Liverpool lose the league. They have worked too hard, and as a Liverpool fan I can authoritatively say that no one can stand in the way of our title this season. For the points tally I want it to be (and I know it will be) more than a 25 points gap between Liverpool and Manchester City, and it could even go above 30.
More than the win and the six points gap. Jürgen Klopp's boys broke two records with their win against Bournemouth. They first broke Manchester City's record for most consecutive home wins the record stood at 21 but Lover have now extended it to 22. They also broke Arsenal's record of most matches won in a season.
The Reds have certainly done more than well this season. They thoroughly deserve the good they are enjoying because they have put the work and consistency ok not it, showing that they are one of the most consistent teams in England and even in Europe as a whole. I think they will break and set many more records before the season ends.
