It was yet another fixture of the ongoing international champions cup friendly match. The pre-season actions are getting more intense for teams and the international champions cup is a great way to get a more competitive feeling even though there are just pre-season friendly games. Spurs who had a phenomenal season last season, making history by reaching their first-ever champions league final, faced Juventus who have decided to go into a totally new direction by hiring Sarri, an interesting encounter that saw Kane steal the show through his wonder winning goal.
Spurs are looking to build on their achievements last season, like they have been doing over the past couple of years now, establishing themselves as one of the best teams in the premier league. They aren’t the busiest in this transfer period but have a strong core that can look back at what they achieved last season and try to do more when the season begins.
Juventus are in a new phase and are now in the process of learning the Sarri football and a totally new style of play. Playing against Spurs was a great way for Sarri to access his players and his idea of football in action, but the loss and their performance means that Sarri has a lot of work to do to get the players to understand the way he wants to play before the season begins.
Brief Post-Match Analyses
It was yet another great atmosphere of the ongoing international champions cup, lots of fans all excited for the game.
Juventus setup in the favorite Sarri 4-3-3 formation while Spurs setup in a 4-1-2-1-2 formation. Both teams began the game in a good intensity and already it was clear their intensions and both teams really wanted to win the game. Juventus having more of the overall possession and passes but weren’t able to really create enough goal scoring chances. Spurs, on the other hand, had more shots and did well to not only come back from a goal behind but also get the win at the closing minutes of the game.
Lamela opened the scoring in the 30th minute, pouncing onto a loose ball in the box to put Spurs in front.
Higuain canceled the lead in the 56th minute, receiving the ball around the box and scoring a typical Higuain goal.
Ronaldo finally got his desired goal in the 60th minute, releasing a first time effort to put his team in front.
Moura canceled the lead in the 65th minute, receiving a pass inside the Juventus box and finishing beautifully.
Kane decided to steal the show with his last-minute wonder goal, catching the goalkeeper off his line and scoring from the center of the pitch, to give Spurs the deserved victory.
A great and entertaining game it was, Spurs continue to improve on where they left off last season, while Juventus continue their learning process under the new manager. This post can also be found on my scorum blog
