The bloodiest day in crypto I have ever seen.
Roughly a year ago today I was wrapped up in an intense game of Total War: Rome 2 multiplayer defending Carthage with a good friend of mine. As we pissed the night away we were taking the absolute piss out of the general state of every market on Earth and the crypto market was not spared. We were hysterical and it wasn't just because of the caffeine fuelled late night escapade that was unfolding but also because we had held through much of the rough bear market of 2018/2019. Speaking personally my soul was absolutely crushed in those two years since I had decided to dedicate all my spare time into investing in crypto every time it dipped. It. never. stopped. dipping. At some point at its lowest low in 2019 I cashed out everything I had invested in the market and threw it away quite literally out of spite. My friend, who has since launched a successful Total War based YouTube channel, had given up on crypto long ago, but held just the same.
I remember constantly alt tabbing out to hysterically announce the price as every coin my friend and I, as well as many of our other friends, had invested in crashed HARD. There was so much carnage and blood on the streets that I recall genuinely warning my friend that society was going to collapse.
An absolute nightmare of a black swan.
Bitcoin dipped all the way to 3,760 bucks
Ethereum dipped to 88 bucks
Stellar lumens to 3 cents
Cardano to 2 cents
Litecoin to 25 bucks
I may not have caught the literal bottom on my screen but I was damn close and in those sleep deprived, glorious moments I saw opportunity. The next day crypto was no longer the ex girlfriend that made you feel absolutely terrible every time you saw them, rather I fell in love all over again like it was my first time laying eyes on it again. It sounds corny but its true. From that moment up until early December I was completely blinded by the beast of an investment opportunity we had just been handed.
I remember thinking about how all the doomsday atmosphere/empty shelves/everyone being locked down in their house with their technology would spark a massive amount of buying. The plebs would no longer be able to spend their money outdoors and on meaningless stuff but instead be captivated by aping into crypto. This did not exactly pan out because people found other ways to waste their money but hey here we are at Bitcoin over 50 grand and alts mooning beyond belief.
What were you doing on the night of 12th March 2020? Did you see red or green for the rest of the year?
