For years financial managers have advised that you put your money into investments based on your age, when your younger they advise you to have the following breakdown: 60% Stocks 30% Bonds 10% Cash Then when you get older around your 40's or 50's you should change to more conservative approach with this breakdown: 40% Stock 50% Bonds 10% Cash About 10 years ago, I threw out this investment advice, I found that this advice was outdated and to conservative for the world we live in today.  Bond are safe but their yields haven't kept up with the times.

All of these investment instruments are related and it doesn't protect you against the changing world we live in.  Since this time I have added property, precious metals, and about a year ago Cryptocurrencies.  This has given me protection by being diversified as well as increased my returns.

So here is my take on each of these investments, property will never go down in value.  It will continue to increase as populations throughout the world increases.  In my lifespan I have seen this investment skyrocket.  Precious metals whether it is gold, silver, copper will continue to appreciate due to the fact that unless they find a cache of it laying around in the ground the quantities are limited.  Electronics such as cell phones, tv's, and cars will all require more and more of these assets to increase their speeds.  Crypto is something that I have kicked myself for not getting into years ago.

As a kid everything was cash purchases, if you wanted to go to the movies you paid with cash.  Wanted a bicycle you paid with in cash.  Then about 20 years ago credit cards, cash cards and debit cards started taking over.  Nowadays hardly anyone uses cash to make these purchases.  I missed out on the Bitcoin craze, but I won't miss out on anymore.  Each crypto currency has specific uses, by researching what its used for you can find value.  Some of my favorites are Compound, XRP, KNC, and Ethereum (of course).   

So what does my investment portfolio look like currently:

35% Stock

10% Mutual Funds

20% Land and Real Estate

10% Precious Metal

20% Crypto

5% Cash

With this mixture I am more diversified for market turns.  Whether bullish or bearish, my investments still retain their value as well as stay current with the world we live in today.
