You probably noticed VIRTUAL pumped in the last few days, trading above $1.6. There's indeed a regain of activity, as shown in this YouTube short. But let's take a closer look at what's really happening here.
Looking at the data on Dune Analytics for Virtuals Protocol, what do you see? Yep, there's a regain in activity, but it's still weak compared to January numbers. The recent pump appears disconnected from fundamental usage metrics.
This pattern is common with AI agent platform tokens - short-term price movements often driven more by sentiment and speculation than by actual platform growth or revenue. While believers point to future potential, the current reality shows most AI agent platforms are still early in their adoption curve.
For me, this disconnect between price action and underlying metrics is why I don't buy it. In fact, I'm short selling it. The hype cycle for AI agent tokens tends to be volatile, and current valuations seem to price in adoption that hasn't materialized yet.
If you're considering similar positions, platforms like Hyperliquid offer ways to express these views. Obviously, this isn't financial advice - do your own research before making any trading decisions.
What do you think about AI agent tokens? Are you seeing signals I'm missing, or do you share similar concerns about the gap between valuation and actual usage?
