Cosmos teams announced at the Cosmoverse conference Medellin a new whitepaper, which could be called ATOM 2.0.
What is ATOM 2.0?
It is mostly a brand name, which seems to be mostly inspired from Ethereum 2.0.
What is the objective?
The official objective is to create a resilient economy around Cosmos. The real objective is to give more value to ATOM, since Cosmos is a friendly ecosystem to easily create new blockchains which do not always add value to ATOM, since these chains do not need to pay ATOM gas fees, unlike the Ethereum rollups which pay ETH gas fees.
What can we expect from that change?
In the short term, it might make the buzz, but nothing comparable with Ethereum merge... In the longer term, if this new Cosmos economic system works, it will add value to ATOM... 2.0.
