According to River Financial, Satoshi Nakomoto, the inventor of Bitcoin, is also the largest Bitcoin (BTC) holder:

Grayscale
Binance
Bitfinex
OKEX
Block.one
MicroStrategy
Another anonymous holder...

All these holders own several BTC addresses:

Binance owns the largest cold storage wallet address, holding 252,597 BTC.
Five bitcoin addresses contain 100,000 - 1,000,000 BTC for a total of 778k BTC.
The next 92 largest owners, who range from 10,000 - 100,000 BTC, own a total of more than 2 million BTC.

Therefore, the top 97 addresses, also called "whales", account for 14% of the total supply.

In comparison, 63% of staked Ethereum (ETH) are controlled by five entities, and Ethereum sidechain Polygon (MATIC) has a large-holder concentration of 85%. Regarding DogeCoin (DOGE), it has a 65% concentration of large holders, as of 8 December 2022.

In summary, Bitcoin is more evenly distributed than most of the altcoins.
