Is Binance Still the King of Crypto Exchanges?

By BreakdownFab | DecryptLab | 30 Mar 2024

So I was scrolling through the news feed today and saw this announcement about Binance launching a giveaway for Easter (click here to learn more). They're practically giving away free crypto! But with all the excitement, it got me thinking... is Binance really the be-all and end-all of crypto exchanges?

There are tons of other options out there these days, each with their own pros and cons. Fees, security, trading features, it can all get overwhelming! ‍

Before you jump in and claim your free coins (who wouldn't, right?), let's take a deep dive into the wild world of crypto exchanges. Are there any hidden gems lurking out there that might be a better fit?

One way to compare them is to look at the fees:

  • Binance has rolled out zero-fee trading on certain FDUSD pairs. On other pairs, maker and taker fees start as low as 0.1%. They don't charge any deposit fees on crypto, but crypto withdrawals are taxed at a flat fee.
  • Kucoin has a fee structure similar to Binance.
  • Crypto.com boasts trading fees which start from as low as 0.075%.

So from my point of view, there are all quite similar regarding fees. I personally prefer Binance since I can use the vouchers I get by playing Word Of The Day to get fee discounts…

We also need top chat a bit about decentralized exchanges (DEXs) - are they the future, or a risky gamble? You can find them on Defillama:

For instance, the well-known DEX Uniswap usually charges 0.3% on trades, which is not very competitive compared to centralized exchanges. Furthermore, the spread between buy and sell prices is larger, and hence I still use centralized exchanges for big swaps...

P.S. Don't forget to that trading crypto is risky. This post is not financial advice. DYOR.
