As Bitcoin (BTC) is ranging around $30k and most of the altcoins are declining, you might be searching for a way to make money without trading. One of the risk-free or low-risk options is to make money in the metaverse with play-to-earn or move-to-earn applications, which might raise a few questions:
What are the best metaverse applications to earn money?
As mentioned above, there are mostly two categories: play-to-earn and move-to-earn applications.
1) Play-to-earn
There are plenty of blockchain based play-to-earn games. The most well-known one is Axie Infinity. What will make the difference at the end of the day is the quality of these games. It is cool to earn a few coins. However, only the high quality games will be sustainable. We will focus on two examples:
- The Sandbox (SAND) is a direct competitor of Decentraland (MANA) using Polygon (MATIC) blockchain, which allows low gas fees transactions. Furthermore, the SAND token can be staked directly on the application with 21% APR. Although the lands, which are NFTs, are expensive to buy, many low cost items can be bought and traded on opensea.io, currently starting from $2. It is a nice opportunity to start trading in the Metaverse.
- Gala Games (GALA) is different since they developed their own Gala Chain but the earned NFTs still need to be transferred to Ethereum (ETH) mainnet to be traded on opensea.io. There is currently an opportunity to earn NFTs and GALA tokens through their "May Mayhem" event:
- You can earn NFT by playing Town Star at least for 3 days till the end of May.
- You can earn GALA by playing Spider Tanks - Ref. ID: FA9C989C4D342D92
2) Move-to-earn
There is currently a main leader which is followed and imitated by challenger:
- Stepn is the leader. They launched two tokens: GMT is the governance token, which allows to vote for changing the rules; GST is the token you earn by running or walking... After having bought sneakers, currently starting at 12 SOL (around $600).
- Step App is the challenger. They launched two tokens: FITFI is similar to Stepn's GMT, and KCAL to GST. Furthermore, KCAL allows to buy sneaks. We can expect Step App's sneaks will be cheaper than Stepn's sneakers: click here to earn FAT points that can be converted to KCAL after launch.
How much can you earn with metaverse applications?
In a recent article written on Theface.com about Axie Infinity, some figures were given for a typical player:
One example is of 31-year-old RK Secretario, who earns around £18,000 playing Axie Infinity, according to Rest of World. He says this is more than he’d earn at work and it provides him with a much safer working environment. The cost of living in the Philippines is approximately £13,512.
As mentioned, £18,000 (around $22,000) is sufficient to live in the Philippines, and it is already a decent passive income to complete other revenues in most of the countries worldwide. However, it requires a large portion of your time in front of a screen to earn such rewards. A better option can be to go outside to walk or run and earn money with Stepn or Step App. In that case, the main drawback is the initial cost of the sneakers. Please do your own calculation. As usual, it is not a financial advice.
