Today’s Spotlight is a special one. If you’ve been on Cent for any length of time you know @Connie . Her digital creations & NFTs have graced Cent for a while & are always a delight. They have a tendency to grab one’s gaze & & relish in its lingering. Connies skill & talent are remarkable. Her color choices, subject matter, & object placement are always immaculate & seem to come second nature. I try to stay objective & unbiased in these Spotlights but I would paint myself as a liar if I said Connie wasn’t one of my favorites. As someone who has always romanticized the 1960s (sometimes undeservingly), the permeation of psychedelia in some of her pieces absconds with my attention without intent of ever relinquishing it. Connie was gracious enough to grant me an interview. Here one can see Connie is not only a brilliant artist but has an amazing intellect & insight. You can read below.

erixink:What do you enjoy/love about art?
Connie: I enjoy the use of color to influence the mood of the observer. I also love the raw expression of emotion and creativity it permits. I particularly enjoy pieces that have an underlying message, explore the nature of reality, tackle social issues and embrace weirdness.
erixink:How long have you been an artist?
Connie:I’ve always been an artist. We all are.
erixink:What interested you in the crypto art market/world?
Connie:What interested me about Crypto Art is the idea of owning digital property. My exploration into the Crypto Art world is really a bet on the future of non-fungible tokens.
erixink: Why do you create?
Connie:I create because I don’t know what else I would do. I suppose I could destroy, but that’s still creating - creating a mess, which would just increase entropy.
erixink: When you are in the process of creating a typical piece do you do it with a specific idea, emotion, or reaction in mind that you are trying to convey to the audience?
Connie:Sometimes, but not always. There are times when I have no idea what I’m creating. Then there are other instances where I’m creating to convey a specific message. It just depends on the moment. I enjoy both approaches.
erixink:What do you get out of creating?
Connie:I get joy and a sense of purpose.
erixink:What do you hope your audience gets out of your art?
Connie:That’s an interesting question. Everyone has their own vantage point. A piece will resonate differently depending on levels of consciousness, experiences, tastes, etc. But I don’t hope towards that end. My work is all over the place because I don’t conform to specific styles or rules. I just do whatever the fuck I want.
erixink:Where do you see the Crypto Art market going in the future? Where do you hope it goes?
Connie: The Crypto Art market will continue to mature into a level playing field for everyone. There will be more purchasing options beyond ETH, public provenance will become a fascinating obsession, AR and VR will be increasingly used to interact with and display artwork, new live streaming auction houses will launch, some works will be collateralized, smart contract royalties will become a standard, and the ability to earn crypto from affiliate rewards will increase the number of collectors and artists.

•• A lot of energy, attention, & research goes into these “Artist Spotlight” posts. The intention is to bring art & artists exposure to people who may never run across their work, hopefully enriching the lives of the both parties. If you know or want an artist featured please DM me. I’m always looking for talented individuals to promote. These posts can also be found at: https://beta.cent.co/@erixink or: https://steemit.com/@erixink
