Now that the whole landscape is forgotten
like a bird that brings in its
plumage snow or light or water from other regions
I remember the gray fruit, the sonorous diligence of the
wind through the trees.
giant cases of sweet and devilish blackberries,
everything is now forgotten
not chained in history
red leaves, red dogs, tree-lined paths
where a surviving bird of war
brings in her brief hot body
light debris from a landscape
stuck in memory.
forgotten like a bird
