105: A Good Conversation Part 1

The bell rings, it's time for recess. The boys from 1st A pack up their things and go down to the playground to talk about how they've spent the morning's school day.
Sitting on the bench, and after eating their sandwich, Hugo asks a question:
-Guys, did you remember to bring the signed permission slip to go home early?
- Yes! – Carlota and Loreto answer at the same time.
- I don't remember! I'll see. – Lucas answers, taking out his diary.
- Wow, the signature! Wow, and I even have the permission slip written down. – Sandra says. – I completely forgot.
Lucas looks at his diary. He looks at the "Authorizations" section and closes it quickly. Hugo has noticed.
- What's up, man? Do you have the signature or not?
- No... I forgot it too. – Lucas answers.
- Really? Hahaha! Well, you're going to have to stay until the end of classes. Miss Rosario said yesterday that whoever didn't have the signature, would stay. – says Carlota.
– It can't be, really? – says Sandra, opening her eyes wide.
– Yes.
– Come on, you two stay. Well, that way you'll keep each other company – says Hugo.
Once recess was over, all the first-year students who had signed the permission slip could go home. Sandra and Lucas had to stay with some of their classmates for two more hours.
– What do we do, Lucas?
– Well, it was just occurring to me... Would you like to go to the library? We'll get a book or do some homework. At least we'll be entertained.
– Okay.
The two boys walk down the third-floor hallway towards the library. They enter and there are hardly any students in it.
– Does that table over there seem okay to you? – asks Lucas pointing to a small table at the back of the room next to the windows that look out onto the patio.
– Okay.
They both sit down and together they begin to do their Maths homework. After half an hour with them, Lucas puts down his pencil and sighs. Sandra, however, continues with the exercises, although she raises her head worried.
– Lucas, what's wrong with you?
– I can't get the exercises right, Sandra. I have no idea. And you?
– I... Yes. Wait, I'll give you a hand. Let's start with the first exercise on page 32. What's wrong?
Lucas shows Sandra the notebook with the solution. Sandra looks at it and tries to explain why she got it wrong and what the correct solution is. Several exercises later, Lucas is happier, because the exercises are starting to work out for him. Sometimes, doing homework with classmates clarifies concepts that we don't quite understand in class. A little while later, the kids completely finish the day's homework.
– Good, we've had time to do everything! – Lucas exclaims. – Finally a free afternoon until I go to the pool. Isn’t that great? Thank you so much for helping me, Sandra. I knew you were good at math, but not that good.
– You’re welcome, Lucas, that’s what we’re here for. – Sandra replies with a smile.
Lucas looks at her and smiles too. He was thinking of not doing so, but he has to say something to the girl.
– You know what? I lied at recess when I said I didn’t have the signed permission slip. – Lucas says. – Because I do have it. – He shows Sandra his signature.

Sandra looks at him. She can’t believe it.
