Brownie’s cryptoverse

Getting started in Crypto!

Over a year ago, I was able to start my journey into the cryptoverse with a few hundred dollars from items I was selling on Facebook Marketplace and EBay (see my article on this:https://www.publish0x.com/earn-money-at-home-to-buy-crypto/earn-money-at-home-to-buy-crypto-xqmnvpd). Since then I have done a little bit of dollar cost averaging for a few weeks in a row when the market was low. In October 2020, PayPal had initiated its platform to buy Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin. These four cryptos were the only ones available, but acclimated me to the four coins and forced me to learn more about them and their potential utility. (Note: Venmo (https://get.venmo.com/cUbsRGArSjb) also allows purchasing the same cryptocurrencies as PayPal…I believe PayPal owns Venmo now).

If I had $1000 today and would have invested it in the 4 cryptos I would have stuck it in Bitcoin and Ethereum for the gains over the past year. Today, If I had $1000 to invest at one time I would invest 50% in Bitcoin, 25% in Ethereum and 25% in Cardano. These three are the top performers in today’s market and Cardano has a lot of potential in 2022 and into the future years as it expands its portfolio and integrates with other blockchains. Recently, Cardano has partnered with Ethiopia for assisting in secure identification of student credentials to combat fraud within educational degrees and certifications. Cardano has also partnered with Dish Network to assist with customer identification to ensure customers are whom they say they are using blockchain technology. Lastly, Cardano has partnered with Chainlink giving it greater accessibility to other blockchains and interoperability.

Over the past 9 months, I have intently watched YouTube and found various creators that want to educate their subscribers. Specifically, Rob at DANteachescrypto.com has been one of the best for providing free lessons starting at the basics to educate subscribers on all aspects of cryptocurrency. I highly recommend his channel and his partners because they have a lot in common. They do recommend Voyager

(https://voyager.onelink.me/WNly/referral?af_sub5=4E0BFC) as an exchange to start on. I also recommend that one for low fees and Coinbase (https://coinbase.com/join/brown%20_8p3?src=ios-link)  because it offers a larger number of coins to invest into when compared to Voyager. Coinbase does have higher fees, but interfaces with PayPal and bank accounts to make purchases.

In the past 6 months, I have experimented with several alternative coins (altcoins) and exchanges that sell cryptocurrency to try and expand my knowledge of what is available for US citizens. Many other countries outside the US have access to many other altcoins and exchanges than are offered to US citizens. Binance.US is an exchange that I find difficult to work with and it has limited access to altcoins when compared to Binance outside the US. The fees are low when you have about $50 of Binance coin purchased on their exchange.
