I Started Playing GameOfHeroes for Free — Here’s What I Think So Far

I've recently started playing GameOfHeroes, and after spending some time with it, I wanted to share my first impressions.

I'm still relatively new to the game, so this isn't going to be one of those posts claiming that I've already made hundreds of dollars or found some secret money-making method.

Actually, quite the opposite.

I've started completely free and haven't withdrawn anything yet.

I'm mainly playing it to see whether the game is genuinely enjoyable and whether the Web3 side of it actually adds something interesting.

So far, I'm enjoying it.

🦸 So, what exactly is GameOfHeroes?

GameOfHeroes is an idle RPG with Web3 elements.

The basic idea is pretty easy to understand: you build your team of heroes, fight enemies, collect equipment, improve your characters and continue progressing through the game.

The idle aspect is something I personally like.

You don't necessarily need to spend hours actively playing every day. You can let your characters progress, come back later, collect your rewards and decide what you want to upgrade.

There is also an economy around the items you obtain, which is what makes the game more interesting to me than a normal idle RPG.

Some equipment can potentially be traded between players, meaning that getting a particularly rare weapon isn't necessarily just about making your character stronger.

It could potentially have value to someone else as well.

⚔️ My first impressions

So far, the biggest thing I've noticed is that the game is quite easy to get into.

You don't need to understand everything immediately.

I started playing without putting any money into it and just focused on learning how the progression works.

I'm still figuring out which heroes are worth investing in, what equipment I should keep and what I should probably get rid of.

That's actually part of the fun for me at the moment.

Every time I come back to the game, there's something else to check or upgrade.

I'm also curious to see how far I can get without spending anything.

💎 Then I discovered the equipment side of the game

This is where GameOfHeroes became more interesting to me.

Normally, when you get a weapon in an RPG, you look at its stats and decide whether it's better than what you're currently using.

Here, there's another question:

"Could this item actually be worth something to another player?"

That changes the way I look at loot.

Obviously, not every weapon is going to be valuable.

Most items won't suddenly be worth $50 or $100 just because they're in a Web3 game.

But the possibility of getting a rarer weapon that players actually want is something that makes the grinding more interesting.

And that's also what led me to look more closely at the Game Pass.

🎟️ The Game Pass — the part I really want to test

The Game Pass currently costs 0.0955 SOL, which is roughly $10.

I haven't bought it yet.

My plan is actually to play for free for a little longer and then get the Pass so I can compare the experience.

From what I've seen, the Pass provides additional rewards and can help players get access to better and potentially rarer weapons and equipment.

And this is where things get interesting.

I've seen players showing weapons they received through the Pass that can apparently be worth a significant amount compared with the cost of the Pass.

In some cases, players have reported getting a weapon that could essentially cover the cost of their Pass.

That's obviously not something I would consider guaranteed.

You could spend 0.0955 SOL and get rewards that aren't worth nearly as much.

That's exactly why I want to test it myself rather than simply repeating what other people say.

💰 Can the Pass actually pay for itself?

This is probably the biggest question I have right now.

If the Pass costs around $10 and you happen to receive a rare weapon that can be sold for around $10 or more, then the situation becomes pretty interesting.

You would have potentially recovered the cost of the Pass from a single item, while the other rewards are effectively extra.

But there is an important difference between "possible" and "guaranteed."

I'm treating the Pass as something I'm testing, not as an investment with guaranteed returns.

My goal is to record what I actually receive and compare it with the 0.0955 SOL cost.

I'll be looking at:

  • 🎟️ The actual rewards from the Pass
  • ⚔️ The rarity of the weapons
  • 💎 Which items I receive
  • 💰 Their potential marketplace value
  • 📊 Whether the rewards realistically justify the $10 cost
  • 🔄 Whether future Passes are worth considering

If I get something valuable enough to cover the Pass, great.

If I don't, that's useful information too.

🔮 What about future Passes?

This is another reason I'm interested in GameOfHeroes.

If the game continues to develop and introduces new seasons, equipment and future Passes, it could become more interesting over time.

A game with a player-driven economy naturally creates a bit of a "what will I get next?" feeling.

Maybe a future Pass has a particularly desirable weapon.

Maybe certain items become more valuable because players start looking for them.

Or maybe the opposite happens and the rewards aren't worth the cost.

Nobody can really know that in advance.

That's part of the experiment.

🆓 Why I'm starting free instead of immediately spending money

I've played enough crypto games to know that I don't want to immediately throw money into a project just because someone says it can make money.

I'd rather understand the game first.

That's why I started with $0 invested.

I'm learning how the game works, seeing how much progress I can make and deciding whether I actually enjoy playing it.

Only after that am I planning to spend the 0.0955 SOL on the Game Pass.

For me, that's a much better way to approach it.

If I end up enjoying the game and the Pass gives me good rewards, I'll probably continue.

If I don't think the value is there, at least I found out before spending a lot more.

👀 I'll update this after trying the Pass

This is still very much a first impression, rather than a final review.

I want to give GameOfHeroes a proper chance before deciding what I really think about it.

My next step is getting the Game Pass and documenting what I receive.

I'm particularly curious to see whether I can get one of those rarer weapons that I've seen other players talking about.

If I manage to get something valuable, I'll share it.

If I get terrible loot, I'll share that too. 😂

That's probably the best way to review a game like this — actually show what happens rather than making promises about what might happen.

For now, though, I'm enjoying GameOfHeroes and I'm curious to see where it goes.

I'm still at the beginning of my journey with the game, so if you decide to try it too, I'd be interested to hear what kind of loot you end up getting.

Let's see if that $10 Game Pass can actually surprise me. 👀⚔️
