The BitDevs meetings are sprinkled around the world and America. They tend to run a Socratic Seminar. We attend the meetings in Boston as best we can. This is the link to Boston BitDevs.
It is very important to note the ethics and code within the groups and meetings. Folks are allowed to discuss topics but are forbidden from attribution in any way. In other words, you are not supposed to attend a meeting and then come out and publicly say "well, so and so really hates this BIP and thinks this is wrong/right/up/down/backwards/forwards, etc.". As such, we will not do that.

Ordinals
Are these NFTs on Bitcoin via Ordinals fungible or non-fungible? Does the Ordinal make THAT satoshi no longer fungible? Wait, what? Interesting discussion. Felt like still a gray area and the development of services that would help people "protect" their Ordinal sats. Technically, the discussion seemed to land on the sats absolutely being usable still and that is why holders would need to set these sats off to the side somehow.
This is intriguing and worthy of more analysis for sure.
BIP Review
The BIP proposes to bring Human Readable Names into payment info. There were numerous objections to the use of DNS and how that opens an attack vector.
The BIP Number Assignment Process
Though highly non-technical, this was perhaps the most interesting discussion. It was about procedures and administrative functions. Apparently, a BIP is not a real BIP in terms of circulating throughout the community unless it has been assigned a BIP number. This creates a code and common alignment mechanism everyone can use. "Hey, did you check out that new BIP it's really cool?" "No, I didn't. What is the BIP number?" You can see how the lack of an identifier tag could prevent the BIP from getting into the minds of devs, yet the whole point of BIPs is to allow the community to create and debate proposals.
If an administrative and/or personal agenda blocks that simple assignment of a BIP number, then that sounds like a trick they play in DC. This doesn't sound like the ethos that got us to where we are today. Playing games and/or allowing personal feelings or agendas to control - as crazy as it may sound - could stifle innovation. Is that what we want?
