utxo is more efficient but its not standard for smart contracts, theres other ways to scale smart contracts, spt's are utxos and leverage all of bitcoins innovations (mast/taproot/schnorr/LN and wahtever else comes) while NEVM leverages everything eth will to do scale (zkrollups, optimism etc)

its not that bad its just easier to do smart contracts with account based models

while its easier to do payment channel type things with utxo.. and with zkrollups it can work with either so not really advantageous too much atm for either.. however zdag extensively leverages utxo mechanism to do its thing

the main difference between eth and sys (EVM vs NEVM) will be simply where transactions are settled and with what security(edited)

Fees: The design of Syscoin NEVM makes fees more appropriate to the needs of users by introducing a decentralized cost model. In lower level terms, the coordinated platform uses UTXO for state changes and ZKP for computation leading to state changes. Ultimately this translates to an overall design that gives users the opportunity to determine their own trade-off between state-less and the global state of an efficient merge-mined settlement layer, leading to more appropriate fees depending on their need. Network fees will be significantly lower than Ethereum currently, and comparable or lower in many cases than those of Ethereum 2.0. It also makes room for custom fee markets (including fees paid with an asset other than SYS), and factors into scalability.

2. Scalability: ZkRollups, a simple decentralized cost model, parallel processing, and more, together translate to you executing bigger programs, more complex calculations, and thousands more simultaneous calculations, all executed at much lower fees than Ethereum. Real scaling involves a lot more than just providing higher transaction throughput. The overall design of Syscoin NEVM brings true scalability that will meet the demands of a growing ecosystem of smart cities, while remaining rooted in proven security.

3. Security: Ethereum 2.0 will center around a beacon chain and sharding served by the Casper consensus alogorthm. This requires Ethereum to move towards Proof-of-Stake, introducing security implications and significant risks that require formal analysis that could be years away. Syscoin offers comparable scalability while leveraging AUXPOW (merged mining) that provides Bitcoin's Nakamoto Consensus security which is battle tested and academically verified, along with added chainlocks to eliminate Bitcoin's "selfish mining" vulnerability, and an appropriate separation of concerns between settlement and execution layers.

4. Flexibility ("Best of Both"): Users have had to make an either/or choice between platforms that are focused on computation or simple value transfer to meet their needs in the most efficient way. Ethereum 2.0 will remain purely account-based and focused on computation. With Syscoin, users will get the best of both models on a single coordinated platform; A proven settlement layer with an embedded token platform that can take advantage of UTXO-oriented tech like Z-DAG and multi-asset payment channels, and highly efficient and scalable Turing-complete smart contract and execution layers with NEVM.
