Like many cryptocurrencies, dogecoin can be bought and sold for other cryptocurrencies as well as fiat. As a means of exchanging value, it functions quite well. However, dogecoin also has several additional intrinsic values that no other crypto has.

First, it has meme value. This meme value gives in intangible strength to resist even the most tremendous dumps. Many memes come and go, but doge has endured for years since its inception in 2013. Dogecoin continues to demonstrate its resilience and has been spending months in the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

In addition to functioning as a cryptocurrency and having meme value, dogecoin also has community and spirit. Few know this, but doge stands for "do only good everyday," a symbol to remember that an individual does not exist in a vacuum. Instead, we exist in the world and in communities. Whether the current trading price goes up or down, everyone who hodls doge understands that the most important thing is to be a good person towards everyone that they meet. 

Furthermore, dogecoin has the fun factor. You can buy one, you can buy a million. And each time, the transaction will go through fast and very cheap. You don't need to spend tens or hundreds of dollars on transaction fees, you can simply buy your coins with less than one doll hair and be happy.

Finally, dogecoin has the wow factor. Other cryptocurrencies try to say that they are revolutionizing the world, or they prey on investors using ICOs and other tactics to play up the coin economic model for why the value of the coin will. Dogecoin doesn't try to do any of that. Dogecoin is happy to be what it is, and this indifference towards the crypto economy and business models while embracing its individuality gives it many style points.
