11% plagiarism in my text...

11% plagiarism in my text...

By ROcrypton | live blog | 20 Dec 2024

What we're going to talk about today, maybe about the text I just wrote and didn't have the courage to post. It was about the Starlink signal being turned off in India after the seizure of equipment that was in the possession of criminals, but Elon Musk said it was never turned on! It could be a hack used by these criminals (sources at the end of the article).

But why didn't I have the courage to post this text? It was because of the fear of plagiarism, after all, I don't know how I'm going to comment on a news story with you without describing it. I wrote a long and elaborate text on the subject, reformulating something here and there. When I entered it into the plagiarism detector DupliChecker, it found 11% plagiarism and 89% "unique", so that will be our topic, how to be unique and still relevant to our readers.

I'm always looking for this, how to write authorial texts without looking for news. What I see most is reformulations of news.

I have asked many questions on chatGPT looking for ways to become more authentic and write only unique texts, but in practice it is not quite like that. People do not usually connect with subjects they are not familiar with, that is, those that are not common to most people. And we all know that if it were not for tips we would not be here, and this creates a paradox: being unique generally does not generate many tips, if I talk about subjects that others are not familiar with, it also does not generate comments.

Mind you, I am not saying that it is impossible, but it does require a period of time and consistency until your "unique" texts become common to everyone. And then any topic with an original text can be successful. So it is not enough for the texts to be unique, but they must be consistent and punctual, another task that is not at all easy.

So even if our texts are not that good at first, they have to be consistent and original to attract the public's attention through memory. And of course, being constant they improve the quality day after day.

But the main thing we are talking about here is ending up plagiarizing a text unintentionally, when for example we are commenting on some news like in the case of Starlink in India. I read the news on the Brazilian website TudoCelular.com which was practically a copy of the Reuters text but translated into Portuguese, but when commenting on excerpts of the news in my text even rewording several words, it showed 11% plagiarism, so I deleted it and wrote this text here which showed 0% plagiarism.

I think this is what the publish0x platform means when before publishing the text those terms of responsibility appear with punishment of removing the text or even banning for plagiarism or artificial intelligence or the famous "copy and paste"
