Kin is a gritty Irish Crime drama currently on AMC America and the RTE iPlayer App, set in the treacherous Dublin Gangland scene, Mikey Kinsella a gangland assassin is released from prison, hoping to turn his life around and turn his back on crime and start seeing his estranged daughter when all hell breaks loose between his cousin and a rival drug dealer working for the same dangerous cartel that supplies his family.

The Cartel Boss Eamon Cunningham played by Ciaran Hinds gives the go ahead for the dealer to take revenge on the Leader of the Kinsella Families Son for a shooting over an argument which Frank Kinsella played by Aiden Gillen the Kinsella family Boss knows nothing about.

In the revenge attack another innocent Kinsella family member is shot dead when the assassin attempts to gun down Eric "VIKING" Kinsella, hits him but fails to assassinate him.

Frank meets with Eamon to try and rectify the situation, but his Nephews Jimmy the Father of the innocent victim played by Emmet J Scanlon and Mikey played by Charlie Cox have other plans

On the evening of the funeral Caolan Moore the rival drug dealer Played by Lloyd Cooney is seen celebrating at a local bar as he believes the Kinsella family will be in morning, this turns out to be a detrimental mistake.

A mistake that will start one of the bloodiest gang wars between two of ganglands most feared old friends that will become bitter adversaries.

Followed closely by a struggle between both sides to control the Irish underworld and the supply of drugs on the Island of Ireland, threats, intimidation, deception and manipulation are common as both sides send out a message to the rest of gangland that you are either with us or you are against us.

THE SOUNDTRACK

The original soundtrack was created by David Holmes known for his scores on some of tinsel towns biggest blockbusters such as, Ocean’s Eleven, Out of Sight, Killing Eve, Haywire, No Sudden Move and Analyze That) .

MY CONCLUSION

Kin looks set to be one of the big crime dramas of 2021, released by AMC and RTE on September 9th and with an all star cast, it is filled with intriguing storylines of love and betrayal, as one close knit families bonds are put through the ultimate test of survival in the dog eat dog world of international gangland.

There are some great plots and twists that are sure to create a cult like following for the series as we delve into a very well thought out and realistic storyline with some great dialogue action and an overall sense of the murky gangland world the Kinsella's are embroiled in.

A really enjoyable watch for fans of movies such as the Godfather, Scarface, The Irishman or The Soprano's TV series
