My last post was late May after the all time highs had passed, but the euphoria was still in the air. We had yet to hit the bottom in this latest micro cycle. I say micro cycle because I've been in crypto for less than a year. I've read the tales of the visionary believers who've been in crypto for years, who would have swooned this time last year at Bitcoin prices in the 30k+ range - a price considered dismal this summer.
In my inexperience I hesitated to add much to my holdings and with the recovery this past week am kicking myself for not adding to what I have been hodling. We've seen a lot of attention given to crypto this year both positive and negative. On the negative side is the specter of Government oversight, the Fear, Uncertainty, DOUBT! It effectively undermined my confidence in continuing to add to my investments in crypto. (And in fairness my hesitancy feels somewhat justified after buying some ICP at over 200 as the most extreme example of my ignorance.) There is a strong case to be made for understanding what you invest in and not just jumping on the band wagon. On the positive side of all the attention, however, is the old adage that there is no such thing as bad press. Crypto is becoming mainstream, and as such still presents enormous upside.
So I'm looking for additional entry points and projects I understand and believe in to continue to expand my digital investments. Bitcoin is of course the flagship along with its little brother ETH. ADA, XLM, MATIC and PI make interesting cases that I am willing to gamble on. Fetch and Raven keep popping up and are on my list to learn more. So far I've learned that there is no free money whether it's airdrops, faucets, publishing sites like this one. It all takes time/energy/work. What about NFTs, staking, or mining? Acquaintances encourage me to look at the opportunities within the DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations). So much to learn, so little time. For now, I'm watching and waiting and investing in the real life home in which I live. What is your approach?
