If I Had to Invest in 10 Crypto Coins Today, October 5, 2026

If I Had to Invest in 10 Crypto Coins Today, October 5, 2026

If I had to choose only 10 cryptocurrencies to invest in today, which ones would make my list?

There are thousands of cryptocurrencies in the market. Every day, new coins appear, new narratives become popular, and some old projects suddenly start getting attention again.

That makes choosing coins difficult.

So instead of looking for the next random 100x coin, I would focus on projects that I believe have strong names, active communities, useful technology, or a good chance of remaining relevant in the crypto market.

These are the 10 coins I would personally research first.

1. Bitcoin (BTC)

Bitcoin would be my number one choice.

There is a simple reason for that: Bitcoin is still the biggest and most recognized cryptocurrency in the world.

It has the strongest brand in crypto, a limited supply, and a huge amount of attention from both individual and institutional investors.

If I were building a crypto portfolio from scratch, BTC would be the foundation.

I would not expect Bitcoin to behave like a small altcoin that can suddenly do 20x in a few weeks.

Instead, I see Bitcoin as the asset I would want to hold for the long term.

2. Ethereum (ETH)

Ethereum would be my second choice.

Ethereum is much more than a cryptocurrency. It is one of the biggest platforms for decentralized applications, smart contracts, DeFi and many other parts of the crypto ecosystem.

A huge number of projects are connected to Ethereum in some way.

If the crypto industry continues to grow over the next several years, I think Ethereum will remain one of the most important networks to watch.

For me, ETH belongs in the top 10 without much hesitation.

3. Solana (SOL)

Solana is one of the altcoins I would watch very closely.

The network has built a large ecosystem and has become one of the biggest competitors to Ethereum in several areas.

Solana is especially interesting because of its speed, low transaction costs and large developer and user community.

Of course, SOL also carries more risk than Bitcoin or Ethereum.

But with higher risk comes the possibility of higher returns.

That makes Solana an interesting part of a diversified crypto portfolio.

4. Chainlink (LINK)

Chainlink is another project I would keep on my list.

The simple idea behind Chainlink is very important: blockchains need reliable information from outside the blockchain.

Chainlink helps connect smart contracts with real-world data and external systems.

As blockchain adoption grows, infrastructure projects like Chainlink could become increasingly important.

I think LINK is one of those coins that can sometimes get less attention than the biggest names, but it is worth watching closely.

5. XRP

XRP would also make my list.

XRP has one of the largest and most established communities in crypto.

It has been around for years and has remained one of the most discussed cryptocurrencies despite going through multiple market cycles.

The project is particularly interesting because of its focus on payments and financial infrastructure.

Whether someone loves XRP or dislikes it, it is difficult to ignore its position in the crypto market.

That alone makes it a coin I would continue researching.

6. Avalanche (AVAX)

Avalanche is another project I would consider for a long-term crypto portfolio.

The network focuses on smart contracts, decentralized applications and scalable blockchain infrastructure.

AVAX is obviously more speculative than BTC or ETH, but that is exactly why I would keep an eye on it.

If blockchain adoption expands and Avalanche continues to attract developers and users, there could be significant opportunities.

For me, AVAX belongs in the higher-risk section of the portfolio.

7. Cardano (ADA)

Cardano is a cryptocurrency that has been discussed for years, and it still has one of the largest communities in the industry.

The project takes a research-focused approach to blockchain development and has built a strong following among long-term crypto investors.

ADA is not the kind of coin I would buy simply because it is trending on social media.

I would look at it as a long-term speculative position.

If Cardano can continue developing its ecosystem and increasing real-world usage, it could remain relevant for years.

8. Polygon (POL)

Polygon is another project I would keep on my radar.

Ethereum needs scaling solutions, and Polygon has spent years working in that area.

The broader idea is simple: make blockchain applications faster, cheaper and easier to use.

As Ethereum and other blockchain networks continue developing, scaling and infrastructure could become even more important.

That is why I think POL deserves a place on my research list.

9. Litecoin (LTC)

Litecoin may not be the most exciting coin on this list, but I would still include it.

Why?

Because Litecoin has survived multiple crypto cycles.

It has been around for a very long time compared with most cryptocurrencies and remains one of the best-known digital assets.

I would not buy LTC expecting it to suddenly become the next huge meme coin.

Instead, I see it as an established cryptocurrency worth keeping in a diversified watchlist.

Sometimes surviving for years in crypto is an achievement by itself.

10. Toncoin (TON)

The final coin on my list would be Toncoin.

TON is particularly interesting because of its connection with the Telegram ecosystem.

Telegram has a huge global user base, and the idea of bringing blockchain features to a massive messaging platform is something I would continue watching.

The biggest question for me is adoption.

If more people actually use blockchain-based features through the ecosystem, TON could become increasingly important.

That makes it one of the more interesting altcoins on my list.

How Would I Build the Portfolio?

If I actually had to invest money into these 10 coins, I would not put the same amount into every coin.

Bitcoin and Ethereum would receive the largest portions because I consider them the core holdings.

Then I would divide a smaller amount between SOL, LINK, XRP and the other altcoins.

Something like this could be a starting point for my personal research:

BTC: 30%
ETH: 20%
SOL: 12%
LINK: 8%
XRP: 8%
AVAX: 5%
ADA: 5%
POL: 4%
LTC: 4%
TON: 4%

The exact percentages are not the important part.

The main idea is that I would keep most of the portfolio in the larger and more established projects while using a smaller portion for higher-risk opportunities.

What About Meme Coins?

I would probably stay away from putting a large percentage of my portfolio into meme coins.

That does not mean meme coins cannot make huge moves.

They absolutely can.

The problem is that they can also lose most of their value extremely quickly.

If I wanted to gamble on a meme coin, I would treat it as a very small speculative position rather than the foundation of my portfolio.

What Would I Do on October 5?

I would not rush to buy all 10 coins in one transaction.

Crypto can move very quickly.

Instead, I would probably spread my purchases over time.

If prices fall, I would still have cash available.

If prices rise, I would already have some exposure.

For me, that is much more comfortable than trying to guess the exact bottom.

My Top 3

If I had to reduce the entire list to only three cryptocurrencies, my personal choices would be:

1. Bitcoin

2. Ethereum

3. Solana

Bitcoin would be the foundation.

Ethereum would give me exposure to the broader blockchain ecosystem.

Solana would give me more exposure to the higher-risk, higher-growth side of the market.

But crypto is unpredictable, and no list can guarantee future returns.

The coins that look strongest today may not be the strongest five years from now.

That is why I would continue watching development, adoption, users, liquidity and the overall market instead of simply buying a coin because it is popular.

For me, the biggest opportunity in crypto is not finding one magical coin.

It is building a portfolio that can survive different market conditions while still having exposure to projects with strong growth potential.

If you had to choose only 10 crypto coins today, which 10 would you pick?

Let me know your top 3 in the comments.
