Was scheduled to chaperone my students on their community service project to Sembawang Park. I had never been to this park before, so I was looking forward to exploring a part of Singapore I had never been to before.
Was quite impressed by its thoughtful design. Nestled within the grounds was a therapeutic garden, so named because it was aimed to offer stressed-out urban dwellers some respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surely you would forgive me for imagining that I was teleported to an Avatar-like place. Demarcating boundaries between he various spaces, the low-lying arches were the gateway to a peaceful space. I also liked the rock garden of sorts; it vaguely reminded me of similar ROCK gardens in Japan.
I’m grateful that the urban jungle I live in still carves out space for spaces teeming with abundant greenery and imagination.
