Today, I brought my parents to watch "It's a Great Great World". The Great World was Singapore's most popular amusement park when my parents were young. Usually, my mum likes to relax at home in her spare time. However, she wanted to watch this movie this time round because she felt nostagic about her childhood days.

The characters used various dialects to communicate with one another. This made "It's a Great Great World" interesting because they often couldn't understand one another.

These days, most Singaporeans use English and Mandarin to talk to one another. Hence, this chance to understand a different side of Singapore left an impression on me.

今日は両親と一緒に「大世界」という映画を見ました。大世界は両親が若い時シンガポールで一番人気のある遊園地でした。普段、母は時間があるときには、うちでのんびりしするのが好きです。でも、母は子供の頃を懐かしく思い、この映画を見たいとおもいました。

「大世界」の中で、俳優はいろいろな方言でお喋りをしていました。それで、互いの言葉が通じないことがよくあって、おもしろかったです。
現在は、ほとんどのシンガポール人は英語や中国語で話しています。そのため、シンガポールの違う側面を理解できて、強く印象に残りました。
