I’m in a ridiculously good mood.
Today was my heaviest teaching day (8 periods). What’s more, I needed to show up as the guest speaker for NorthLight School’s podcast production team led by Mr Rasidee as well as a dyslexia-related meeting with the Psychological Services branch.

This meant that I only had four teaching periods (inclusive of lunch) to complete my one task for today: complete a YouTube video for a PechaKucha presentation for SG Learning Designers’ Circle.
So remember my musings about work yesterday? I could have declined the request by SgLDC because I really had a lot on my plate this term. But I chose to say yes because you know, this video will be uploaded on my personal YouTube channel and transcend my stint at NorthLight. Also for practical reasons, if I ever need to look for another job in future, I can just get prospective employees to look at my YouTube channel haha.
Anyway, now that I’m clear about my motivation, it was time to spring into action. So after my first two teaching periods, I holed myself in a secluded corner of the school and worked non-stop on my PPT slides. I wouldn’t say that I was in the flow because I was extremely conscious of time. I only had max 3 periods to get everything settled, so I had to decide fast move fast and not dilly-dally. The road to completion was laced with obstacles because I just forgot how to do my Loom presentation with the Kami extension featuring my PPT slides. And I think my urgency showed. My voice sounded a tad affected and I didn’t pronounce certain words all that clearly but oh well, perfection is the enemy of the good.
After 3.5 periods, I got everything done and uploaded my messy attempt on YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zDtJ89HWhrE. I also learnt something important. These days, you can just paste your transcript into YouTube’s auto sync feature and it would synchronise my speech with my words. How amazing. What a time-saver this was.
In the end, I only had 15 minutes for a hurried Laksa lunch and coffee. But it didn’t matter. What mattered was that despite everything, I got to accomplish my one task of the day. This old dog still got it! I’m undefeated by the ravages!
