I love writing. I also fancy myself as a good writer. Which is why I don’t mind posting my humble thoughts here even if the rewards are not as lucrative as before. Even though I have only posted my journals for a couple of months here, I have noticed a change in myself - hopefully for the better! Hence, I will like to share with you my personal growth as a writer.
1. becoming more creative
As I am keen to optimize my earnings here, I set myself the ambitious goal of posting twice every day. As you might have expected, life gets in the way and there are many occasions in which I don't get the time to consolidate my thoughts and be disciplined to record them. However, most days, I am able to blog once. Before I set myself this goal, I would be rather skeptical about whether I would be able to achieve it. After all, I am a novice to crypto investing. What can I write that will generate reader interest and audience engagement?
But I found that once I had determined my goal, my creativity juices started to kick in. I began noticing all the news on my social media feed with a keen and critical eye. And suddenly, I just had so much that I wanted to learn and explore. Coupled with documenting my findings so that I could refer to them whenever necessary, I also wanted to share them with a wider audience. Today, I just blogged about Bitcoin Cash. Other topics off the top of my head: the $55 million Ethereum heist, a $600 million heist hacked from Poly Network (which happened this Tuesday, August 11!), and how Gavin Wood conceptualized and brought to life Polkadot. Right now, I am listening to a YouTube webinar on how retail investors should handle the recent regulatory clampdowns in China and really want to write about that too!
I feel that this sharpened sensitivity and gumption to write have boosted my self-confidence because I know that I can rely on myself to come up with a steady stream of articles.
2. creating my luck
Passionate about travel, I maintain a travel blog here. I specifically focus on travel in Japan because I lived in Kumamoto for two years and was privileged enough to travel to over 30 prefectures and interact with many Japanese people then. Hence, I feel that I am able to introduce lesser-known attractions to the international community at Publish0x. Because Kumamoto is in the middle of Kyushu Island, I decided to concentrate my efforts on the prefectures located within Kyushu, namely Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Nagasaki and Kagoshima. So I wrote my article on Kagoshima the other day.
Aside from Publish0x, I also write monthly for a Japanese travel site. Guess what? My assignment for August is to write ten great places to explore in Kagoshima Prefecture! What are the odds?! Of course, I won't replicate my Publish0x content for the introductory article to Kagoshima's tourist attraction. But I already have all my Kagoshima-related travel notes and photos sorted out nicely - ready to be utilized again!
My faith in the Universe has been strengthened. I think something that plagues a lot of us writers is whether our writings will see the light of day and generate profits that will justify our time and effort invested in writing them. However, I learnt that no effort is truly wasted. I write to gain clarity on myself and dig deep to offer a unique perspective. Only when I am ready will the Universe place its spotlight on me and grant me opportunities that will smoothen my writing journey.
3. honing my personal voice
I mentioned earlier that I write regularly for a Japanese travel site. Well, writing for it is therapeutic but I sometimes find that my writing gets a little bit contrived because I am trying to write in a way that will address the readers' needs. Although the editors of this site have been mostly kind and not offered many drastic changes to my writing, I find that this self-inflicted need to impress clamps my writing style.
One awesome thing I have gained from writing here is that it.is.SO.LIBERATING! (sorry for the caps.) It's hard for me to predict which of my articles will do well in terms of tips anyway. My article on Nagasaki gained more tips from some of the crypto-related articles I had written. Since I cannot control how Publish0x readers will respond to my writing, I am thus free to give a no-holds-barred account of my current disposition and knowledge. Publish0x has removed the need for self-censorship, and for an avenue that empowers me to discover my inner voice, I will always feel indebted to it.
Now, it's your turn! Care to share why you post here on Publish0x?
