WW2 plane study
In 1943, before the dire times of "1944 Operation Pointblank", German fighters were still able to destroy scores of allied bombers on the day or night operations.
During this period, the allies were not able to effectively prevent the Luftwaffe to shoot down a sore portion of its flying fortress bomber units.
Particularly, the FW-190s (along with other interceptor units) were able to smash unescorted US daylight bombardment raids.
Eventually, large numbers of P-38, P-47 and mostly P-51 fighters succeeded in repealing and hunting back FW-190s.
