Hello everyone, today we will talk about the Red Room. Do they exist or not? We will dispel some myths.
There are many sites on the Dark Web dedicated to the Red Room: some with Spartan graphics and lots of countdowns, others instead accessible only by invitation or above all by paying (Bitcoin).
So in all this unclear situation, as always, there are those who take advantage of it: the scammers.
But what are these Red Room? Practically sites with lots of webcams where live executions would take place (ISIS in particular).
Within the sites hosted on Onion domains (therefore accessible only with Tor) there are IRC chats in which, through messages, you decide how to torture the victim.
All this spread on Reddit in august (2015), when an anonymous posted a screen continuing to say that the owners of the Onion site had captured some ISIS terrorists who would have been tortured and killed live.
Sometimes, according to common beliefs, viewers can interact: by typing instructions on the screen they can decide how the prisoner should be tortured and killed.
Generally the price also varies (not all of them are free).
This site reported a countdown with the date of the next run but often ended up "down".
At the end of the countdown (and after about 1-2 hours) the page was updated saying that everything was finished and the managers made the video available to users divided into several parts.
Maybe a virus? A ransomware? A keylogger?
The site appears to have been overshadowed by the FBI.
In truth, it could also have been a bullshit from the site administrator because, as far as we know, nobody has ever been able to see a live cam on this site (probably the first one that gave rise to the "belief" of the Red Room).
The Dark Web has seen terrible monsters born such as Peter Gerard Scully (we will talk about it in another episode) but 90% of the Red Rooms on the Dark Web are scams.
