Yesterday (February 29), Blast, Ethereum's layer 2 scaling solution, officially launched its mainnet. Including unlocking billions of dollars worth of crypto coins that users have locked away to earn rewards by staking coins and participating in airdrop campaigns.
Assets on the platform include 469,000 Ethereum, 77.3 million USDC, 67.1 million USDT, 148,000 stETH, and 24.7 million DAI, according to data from Dune Analytics. Users can now withdraw these coins.
Blast, created by Tieshun Roquerre, founder of the popular NFT exchange Blur, aims to create a model that rewards ether and stablecoin deposits with 4% and 5% interest rates respectively. The platform has community members joining in early access. There are more than 180,000 users and the total value of assets locked on the protocol (TVL) is more than $2.3 billion.
